DLA collaborated with gLAs Architects to provide site design and ensure that landscape components complement the building architecture. The design emphasizes the interplay between built form and landscape.
Key areas of interest include the main building entrance and the interior courtyard. Pavement jointing and color allude to the flow of water and natural processes. The courtyard functions as an extension of the art classrooms, with plinths and display areas serving as an outdoor gallery, classroom, and critique space. Overt representation is avoided in favor of loose abstraction, allowing students to define and animate the space. The overall design supports the campus as a dynamic and vital learning environment.
