Between Hult Center and Graduate Hotel
Dougherty Landscape Architects led the design of the first phase of the Willamette Crossing, transforming a previously disconnected corridor into a vibrant public space that links the north and south ends of downtown Eugene.
Funded by Urban Renewal and Public Works, this project strengthens the connection between the energetic, revitalized north downtown and Eugene’s traditional city center. DLA’s design approach prioritized safety, accessibility, and a welcoming pedestrian experience. Key improvements included creating a more inviting environment, enhanced visibility, improved pathways for people walking, biking, and using mobility devices, and a thoughtfully designed landscape that supports both movement and moments of pause. The result is a stronger, more connected downtown experience -- shaped by DLA’s commitment to inclusive and context-sensitive design.
